When in doubt say Darling

New Pieter-Dirk Uys show for Evita se Perron and the world

A new show about forgetting, forgiving, remembering, faking, making-up and doing: “WHEN IN DOUBT SAY DARLING” – an entertainment with Pieter-Dirk Uys and other darlings.

Sometimes politics repeats itself, not only taking history and turning it into farce, but taking farce and turning into the fake news which is now called entertainment.

Pieter-Dirk Uys is sorting out 40 years of distress, disguise and disgust: from apartheid to tripartite, from amandla to Nkandla, from Brexit to Zexit.

Wigs, glasses, wagging fingers, toyi-toyis, red berets, trump cards of madness, icons and aikonas; from Bezuidenhouts, Raubenheimers, Ramaphosas to Altzheimers.

At a time when a casual greeting or embrace can be seen as racist or harassment, the advice is simple: when in doubt say darling.

If you can’t remember their names, just say darling.

If you get lost along the road to somewhere, simply ask for Darling.

He did it, and now Pieter-Dirk Uys also lives in Darling.

Join him and many darlings on an exciting walk to the edge of the next cliff when the end of the world seems nigh.

It used to be called a sunset. Here’s a secret: the sun will also rise tomorrow, darling.

Never too Naked

Bambi never too naked‘NEVER TOO NAKED’ has Bambi sharing the experience of leaving South Africa in the late 1950s, finding freedom in the sex underworld of Vienna, marrying an aristocrat who turned out to be a Nazi. Her ‘Bedtime Stories’ reflect the uncomfortable comparisons of her new life with her old existence, leading to her escape from the marriage of horror to become one of Europe’s most famous grand horizontals. In this time of #MeToo, Bambi shows a rare celebration of her freedom to choose the world of sex and not be forced into it.

Ticket Price R135 p/p, includes supper (Vegetarian Pasta or Spaghetti Bolognaise) and a glass of wine

Adapt or Fly
Apr 6 @ 14:00

Evita se Perron

From DF Malan to JG Zuma
It is 30 years since Pieter‑Dirk Uys started his total onslaught on politics with Adapt or Dye in 1981. Everything has changed so radically that some issues have become the same! Julius Malema’s recent outbursts have led to some citizens enquiring about emigration. An ANC spokesman added fuel to the fire by suggesting that ‘all cowards can go if they can’t take the future here’. Adapt or Fly! 1981 and today rollick hand‑in‑hand through the ups and downs of South African politics. It’s even funnier now, while it also still chills to the bone.
